Helpful Tips to Know Before Applying for Scholarships
1. Find Scholarships Through Search Engine, Scholarship Resource Pages, and School Counselors.
2. Find Out the Eligibility Requirements for Each Scholarship and Make Sure You Are Eligible.
3. Submit All Required Paperwork by the Deadlines.
4. Make Sure to Follow Up on Application Status Once You Have Submitted An Application.
5. If You Are Required to go Through an Internship Process Be Prepared and Confident. Make Sure You Know What the Interview Will Entail.
6. If Awarded a Scholarship Submit All Required Paperwork.
HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
Drive Your Future Scholarship
Must be a college-bound high school senior who will be first generation in their families to attend college. Student must be enrolled in a high school in the United States or Puerto Rico.
Award: $10,000
Hispanic College Fund High School Program
Available to Hispanic high school seniors with plans to enroll full-time at a two-year or four-year institution. Must have a 3.0 Grade Point Average. Must demonstrate academic need.
Award: $1,000 to $2,500
Justicia En Diversidad Scholarships
Scholarship available to high school students interested in law. Must have a 2.5 grade point average. Students must be attending a US high school and must be planning to attend law school.
Award: $1,500
Tu Voz My Venture Contest
The Contest challenges young individuals to take action by forming a Team comprised of two or more individuals to implement a project aimed at encouraging Latinos to graduate from high school. Contestants must be 13 years and older and have a team leader that is at least 20 years old.
Award: $1,000 grant and a scholarship for up to $5,000
Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards-Money for College
The Youth Awards celebrates the accomplishments of Latino high school seniors who demonstrat high levels of academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership as well as excell in one of the eight different award categories. Applicants must be of Hispanic/Latino Heritage and either a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident. Students must be graduating seniors with an un-weighted 3.0 GPA on a Categories include: Academic Excellence, Business, Community Service, Education, Engineering and Mathematics, Healthcare, Journalism and Sports. Contestants must maintain an un-weighted grade point average of 3.0.
Award: Up to $8,000 for college, a new laptop, and trips to Washington, DC.
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Hispanic National Bar Foundation Princeton Review Duard Bradshaw Scholarship
Must be of Hispanic/Latino Heritage and either U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident. Student must be a junior enrolled at least part-time in an accredited U.S. college or university. Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75. Must demonstrate active participation and leadership in an undergraduate student Hispanic/Latino organization.
Award: Princeton Review LSAT Preparation Course
La Unidad Latina Foundation
Applicant must be Hispanic. Must have a Grade Point Average between 2.8-3.6. Must be a full time student at an accredited college or university. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.
Award: $250-$1,000
Hispanic College Fund Must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent and a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. Must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Applicant must be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student for the upcoming academic year. Must have earned and maintain a grade point average of no less than 3.0. Student must demonstrate need. Award: $500-$5,000
Hispanic Scholarship Fund-College Program
Applicants must be full-time students with a grade point average of 2.7 or above. Must be of Hispanic heritage and either a U.S. citizen or a resident. Student must also demonstrate financial need and academic achievement
Award: $1,000 to $5,000
LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund
Financial assistance provided to minority students attending an ABA-accredited law school. Awards may be renewed if recipient achieves satisfactory performance in Law School.
Award: $5,000 renewable up to $15,000
Mexican American Legal Defense Fund.
Scholarships awarded to Latino students in their first, second, or third year of law school. Must show a commitment to serving the Latino community after graduation and demostrate academic achievement.
Award: $1,000 to $4,000
Puerto Rican Bar Association Scholarship Award
Students must be Latino and attend an ABA approved law school. Must demonstrate financial need and academic promise.
Award: $2,000
